How we handle files
A converter has to receive the file so it can return Word, PDF, Excel, or an image. We use that copy only to finish the tool you chose, then we remove it.
While you convert
- The file is used only for that job — PDF to Word, merge, compress, OCR, and the rest of the toolkit.
- The original filename is not how we store the copy.
- Uploads and downloads are removed within about one hour. Save your own result.
- We do not read files for ads. We do not sell the contents. We do not use documents to train models.
On your device
Theme preference and recent tool names (for example PDF to Word or Compress PDF) can stay in the browser. They are not the document. Clear site data to wipe them.
Passwords and redaction
Protect PDF needs a password you choose. Unlock PDF needs a password you already know. We will not guess someone else’s lock. Redact PDF should remove text, not only paint a box — check the output before you send it. Flatten PDF after filling forms so answers do not vanish on another computer.
